Mr. Lagana was appointed by district Democratic Committee members in April 2018 to fill a vacancy. He previously served in the Assembly from 2014-2018 and was Deputy Parliamentarian from 2016-2017.

Prior to his legislative tenure, the senator was a member of the Paramus Borough Council, serving as its president from 2012 to 2013.

He is a partner with the Secaucus law firm of Chasan, Lamparello, Mallon and Cappuzzo.

He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Fordham University and a juris doctorate, cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Mr. Lagana and his wife, Jamie, have two daughters.
